Social Media (Understanding the Purpose)

 

In the article discussed in this video, Rob Key makes some “key” points with regard to social media:

  • There is a clear disconnect between the common association of the term “social media” with what it can actually do
  • Social Media’s primary value doesn’t come from the tactics or the technologies, but from infusing its value across an enterprise
  • We are rapidly moving to a post-social media world, where all media is social
  • The most important point is the last one, which is why it’s in boldface.   Facebook, MySpace, Linked In and other social media have more and more become the norm.  Media as we know it will never be the same again.
